Love Battlefield

"When I saw you, I fell in love and you smiled because you knew."
This is the love that our dear mothers and fathers know. The love that surpasses all hatred and jealousy. They wrote letters letters to each other...It was like a fairy tale we all wish for now. Just taking this moment to imagine the words in a letter...focusing on lips maybe:
"Sometimes when you part your lips slightly it makes me stop speaking , waiting in anticipation to see your lips move..."
Do you see what im talking about? It was a love like no other, a love with meaning and everlasting.

But looking at my generation it feels like a battlefield.

"You say you love rain but you open your umbrella
You say you love the sun but you find a shadow spot
You say you love the wind but you close the window
This is why I am afraid when you say you love me too
                     -William Shakespeare

The moment someone says "I love you" in my generation its not as close to magical as in the old days. This is because its said after a short period of time of knowing each other. You start to wonder if a guy truly means it. And the fact that some don't even value the word love makes it seem fake most times. As a result my generation resorts to situationships. When a person is having a situationship we are either lying to ourselves or scared to delve into a relationship  or commit. It's a comfort zone that most people have resorted to, to avoid stress of knowing whether you love a person or not but funny thing is when the guy decides to move on to another you feel like you have you lost your soul mate but you let go regardless of the feeling. For girls/Women its hard to own up to the fact but for guys they will make sure that they say something sweet or just something to assure you that we are meant to be together( twisted).
We are not clear about our intentions, why we want to get into relationships. You hear things that don't have a solid base. Millennial thing.
Bring back the 80s love we love so much.(fairytales)
